Here Comes Santa!

Tonight we had the church Christmas Program. Braxton has been talking about seeing Santa for the last month. He remembered seeing Santa last year. "We sing jingle bells and Santa comes in and says "sing it one more time." All day long he was looking forward to seeing Santa. "Mom when Santa is at the church where will the Reindeer be?" He even asked Santa about it. He told santa that he wanted a dinosaur castle for christmas.



There are no pictures of Brooke with Santa because the minute I tried to put her on his lap she screamed her head off. She did get a bag of candy though that she had a death grip on the rest of the night.

Preschool

I am stealing this picture from Rachel (you are so good at having your camera with you) because I wanted to blog about how much Braxton is loving going to Preschool this year. We were a month late getting started because I was really dragging my feet about him going. I didn't want to commit to being out the door by 7:45 in the morning and I didn't want my kids to be away from me any more than they had to (I work afternoons.) But due to my extreme Monday morning shopping I decided I would let Braxton go to Preschool instead of being drug around Albertsons. He is loving it. He loves Mrs. Romans- (he caught on quick with the name!) and loves spending more time with Spence. He comes home and loves to tell me about everything that happened that day. He has definitely improved on his ability to trace letters and color in the lines. Two things he never likes to practice doing for mom. We still have a long way to go though!
This is a picture of the gingerbread house he made the other night. He had fun doing it "all by myself." We have it on the counter and he and Brooke sit and "look at it" daily.

Return to Couponing

After two dead weeks of no sales I am happy to report that I finally found killer deals again today. I was able to score 12 Progresso cans(all chicken noodle soup of course)for $2.50. The good news is we did this three times! This was at Albertsons and then I headed to Rite Aid to get 6 bottles of ALL laundry detergent and a gallon of milk for $9. YEAH for sales!

Rockin Around The Tree

We put up our tree a week ago and I am just now posting the pictures. I would like everyone to pay special attention to the nice row of candy canes Braxton put up. It was perfect until they went to sleep and then mom had to sneak in and rearrange everything. The kids didn't notice.

The Elk Horns

Jeff killed a big elk this year and decided to get the horns mounted. I was not so thrilled about it but told him he could do what he wanted as long as they weren't put up in the house. I came home today to find them up in Braxton's room. Braxton loves them and I guess as long as dad will start putting Braxton to sleep every night (as seen in this picture) I love them too.

Christmas Shopping

I recieved three Christmas packages that were ordered on Cyber Monday today! I have all of my shopping done except for my parents. They are the hard ones. I have never been this on top of things before. Now it requires dilligence to stick to the budget and not go out and by more than I (my kids) need. This year is fun with both of them so excited about it. We put up the tree on Sunday. Tis the Season...

Christmas Card

So I was able to get 50 christmas cards for free and all I had to pay was around $3 for shipping. I thought it was fun to make them. I have never sent out christmas cards before. Vacation

My vacation officially starts today. School goes until noon tomorrow but I definitely get the good end of that! Yeah for part-time. I have big shopping plans for the weekend. Jeff has been really sick with the stomach flu. He has been home sick for 4 days now. Hopefully he gets well so we can do something for Thanksgiving. The kids and I are still healthy!

Coupon Addiction

Every couponer is addicted to showing off their purchase. This is what we did today. The picture is my half (ReNae and I spit everything) minus the ice cream in the freezer and also short the crush cups. Braxton and Brooke couldn't see them for the picture or they would have wanted to eat more. I am trying to limit them to two a day!

Here is what we got: We got 2 gallon milk, 2 loaves of bread, 6 Dannon Dananimal Crush cups, 2 -5 lb gold medal flour, 6 wishbone dressing, 3 progresso broth, 19 cans Progesso Soup, 3 Betty Crocker Frosting tubs, 7 Betty Crocker Potatoes, 11 bags chex mix, 2 cheerios, 3 GM Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, 3 knorr Rice dinners, 10 –Breyers Ice Cream-2 qt size, and 4 Twix Candy Bars. We spent $31.01 and we are getting $6 back in Free Chicken. Not bad for $25!!!

I have never really been brave enought to turn my kids loose with frosting and sprinkles. However, this was very successful and we might even do it again sometime.

Halloween 2009

Potato Harvest

Jeff has been busy harvesting potatoes for the past few weeks. It seems like every time he gets going it rains. Needless to say, it has turned in to a huge mess because they are not finished yet. On the bright side, we had potatoes, onions and beef for dinner. All that we had to pay for was the cream of mushroom soup that flavored the casserole. One of the perks of being married to a farmer.

Pumpkin Patch

Today we were invited by the cousins to go to a pumpkin patch. It inspired us to come home and move all of the pumpkins from the garden up to the front steps! Braxton is quite the gardener.

Our Summer In Review

There were a lot of things that happened this summer that I never took time to blog about. We had a lot of fun! It makes me realize how many memories we will forget because I don't take a camera.

Up, Up, Up and Away

This summer Braxton had the opportunity to fly in an airplane. Thanks to Jeff's extended family visiting from Utah our son now has a fascination with airplanes. He and his dad have so much in common!

Alaska Fishing

Jeff and I had the opportunity to go fishing in Alaska for a week. We caught a lot of fish. It was a neat trip. It was cold and rainy the entire time. It was a good start to a hot summer!

Cousins

This summer we had time to play with our cousins. They are great! Obviously this is too many kids to get to hold still for a picture.

Shower Time!

I guess this is why if I put one kid in the shower and not the other it is a good idea to shut the door!

Diapers!

We went coupon shopping and I now have a year's supply of diapers! What a great thing to get for free.

Birthday Girl

Jeff bought me blinds for my birthday. They haven't arrived yet but I am so excited to use them. Maybe the kids will sleep in more! I love my husband!

King of the House

Braxton has fallen in love with this new PBS cartoon called Dinosaur Train. We first saw it on Monday and every morning he sits by the TV until 9:30 when it comes on. Today when Brooke and I finished cleaning up the kitchen from breakfast we went into my bedroom and look what we found.

Braxton had taken off the slip cover off of the chair. He had also removed every pillow and blanket from my bed to make his "castle."

School Daze..........

Ever since school has started life has been crazy. I have been coming home from work at night so tired it is like I am living in a daze! I am working full time teaching 2nd and 3rd graders right now. I get my "normal" job back though on the 8th. I am so glad I only have to work part time and I am also grateful for 4th and 5th grade students. At first they seemed so young and now they seem so old! The kids are loving going to Julie's. They are real troopers in the morning being drug out of their beds.

I found my cord to my camera so I can now officially post pictures again. If only I had the motivation to take pictures.

Working Woman

So this week has been crazy. Crazy bad that is. I have been back to work the last few days but I've had sick kids. Fevers and throwing up. So my mom came to the rescue and has had them. I am so greatful for her. It is hard because everyone else that could watch them has kids that I don't want to get sick. When my children are sick it is so hard for me to leave them and go to work.

We had an open house at the school today. It was nice to have everything cleaned up and ready for the first day of school.

Braxton just did his first blog. He wrote his name all by himself. Now he told me to write my name. "Wow mommy, your name is a long name."

I better get him to bed.

Diaperless

So today was the third time I've found Brooke without a diaper and the second time there has been poop involved. I will spare you all of the gory details but this is gross. I guess that is her way of telling me she doesn't like it and needs potty trained. She is 15 months old and can't even walk or talk let alone communicate to me that she needs to go to the bathroom.

Sunday

We went to Grandview today to visit Jeff's grandparents. George hasn't been feeling well lately. It seems like I always get car sick but today I didn't. Yeah. We stopped and stretched half way there and I think that helps. Brooke has been throwing fits lately. She is teething and there is only so much screaming I can stand. So we all needed to get out of the car. She slept the entire way back. That was nice.

What a Week

This week has been crazy. At the beginning of the week, we still had the stomache flu. On Tuesday I finally finished painting the bathroom. There were awesome sales at Albertsons going on and thanks to my wonderful mother-in-law I have lots of good food! I hosted a bridal shower for Cirbi on Wednesday. Thursday I was finally feeling better and got some housework done and made a meal for my husband for the first time in a week. Also, it was Dad's birthday so we had an impromptu party for him last night. Late (1:30) last night my cousing Stacie got into town with her family of five. We had everyone over for lunch today. (I did my week's worth of cooking in two days!) Tonight we will go to Cirbi's reception. My house is silent for the first time all week. Yeah!

Painting the Bathroom

We have a mold problem in our bathroom. I have been working on painting it for about 2 weeks now. I didn't actually open the primer until yesterday. I am really dragging my feet. Next week at this time it will be perfect!

Tired Kids

Braxton woke up at 5:30 for the day. Brooke woke up at around 8:30 and was very grouchy. Jeff had us go help haul some hay. We were in the air conditioned pick-up so I didn't think it would be that bad. It was. Brooke wanted to touch all of the buttons and Braxton wanted to sleep...not in his seat...on me. We only lasted about two hours and then quit on Jeff. I love my hard working husband. Now both of them are napping. Yeah!

Emma's Prayer

I have Rachel's kids today while she is at a youth conference. Emma said the prayer on lunch. "Please bless Spencer and I that we can read. Also, please bless Austin that he can be good." Did she come up with this or was there a little help from mom?

Big Brother

I love watching Braxton and Brooke interact. They are starting to play together so well. Tonight I had them taking a shower together. I came in and peaked without them seeing me. Braxton had the soap and was washing Brooke. He started at her shoulder and went down the left side of her body to her toes. Then he got more soap and started at her right side and worked his way up. He finished by rubbing her head and saying "there you go Brooke O."

East Camp Creek

We just got back from our "beautiful adventure" as Braxton would call it. Rachel, the kids and I went to East Camp Creek, which is about an hour from our house. We set up camp (forgot our tent and had to bunk with Rachel) and played around camp on Monday night. Brooke took a nose dive off of the cooler (bad mothering) and has big scrapes across her face. Tuesday, we went on another hike and then Kelli, Kenzie, Julie and Mollie joined us. We drove the 2 miles to Murrays and the kids threw rocks in the reservoir. Then we went back to camp to hang out some more while the babies got to go home and take baths. We headed back early on Wednesday morning.

We had smores twice a day so, overall, it was a good trip!

Summer Swim

At the start of the summer Braxton wouldn't put his face under the water. He hated it when I dunked him under water and liked to hang on me with a death grip. Gradually he learned that he like to jump in the pool and make big splashes. With the increased need for splashes came the tolerance for having his face get wet. Then last weeks swim lessons taught him to search for things underwater. Now he jumps in and swims underwater! He doesn't get very far but it is a great improvement from where we were at the beginning of the summer.

All of the lifeguards know his name because he is famous at the pool for yelling very loudly every single time before jumping "Braxton Bair to the rescue! POW POW POW!"

Brooke on the other hand loved the water from the beginning. She continuously smiles as long as she isn't trapped in her round floaty. Even though I sometime catch her off guard by taking her under water with me, she come up with a happy look on her face and a mouth full of water. Brooke likes to imitate big brother and will sit on the edge of the pool while I count to three and then fall into my arms.
