Sick Days

This has been the longest 7 days ever.  One would think taking off work and staying at home all day with the kids would be my dream.  It is true I was wanting to go on vacation this week but instead we got SICK.  Braxton had a fever on Saturday night and we kept him home from church on Sunday with a fever and coughing. By Tuesday his feve had finally broke but he had a horrible deep cough.  Brooke's fever started that same day and lasted until Friday.  Friday night Braxton woke up SCREAMING in pain.  He had an earache.  Saturday we went to town and aquired antibiotics through the pediatrition.  Today we are staying home from church with terrible coughs and a very sick Dad.  He got it Thursday and things were so bad that came home on Saturday and has been in bed coughing since.  Things are extra miserable with him sick.  I have been lucky.  I am sick with sneezing, itchy eyes and am exhausted but I have not been coughing at all.  I am hoping I avoided the worst of it. 

Tomorrow we are ALL going to be better.  I just know it.  We are going to go back to our lives.

Family Camping Trip

It's a water parade, a water parade!

We went camping at Philips lake outside of Baker this past week. All of my siblings and their families were able to make it along with Mom and Dad and Grandma and Grandpa Romans. Things were great once we got up there. It was a ton of work to get ready to leave and that first night as we ate dinner it was fun hearing other couples had the same problems. “Going” camping in stressful. But of course once we were there it was fantastic. The lake was super fun to play in. My kids both had their “best friends” with them. Cousins are so fun to play with and they were entertained the entire time. Jeff and I were both able to sleep well at night and get naps in during the day. The food was SUPER DELICIOUS. It really was a vacation and hard to come back from. We will definitely go play with water toys more this summer now that we have a cool raft.

Swim Lessons

We had two different swimming lesson sessions this summer. The first week in June, when the weather was still cold, we basically had the pool to ourselves and the best teachers! Cassie Anthony taught Braxton again (she had him when he was three) and Shalise Ewing taught Brooke. Both did an amazing job and the kids learned. Braxton seemed to go regress at times and thought it was frustrating there has been improvement since. Last week Braxton and Brooke were able to take lessons again. Brooke can put her face in the water and push off the wall while doing “Supergirls” and Braxton can swim underwater well just get scared when he has to come up for air and go back down on his own. Both kids can go off the slide by themselves though Brooke likes it much more than Braxton. Both can go off the diving boards when caught by their teacher though Braxton loves it much more than Brooke. The big news is BRAXTON JUMPED OFF OF THE HIGH DIVE. He really wanted to be the first cousin to complete the audacious undertaking. He is very proud of his accomplishment though he will not jump again until next year. “It was too scary.”
